Bangalore Airport currently hastwo terminalsin two separate buildings, approximately 350 metres apart.

The shuttle bus between the terminals is free of charge and runs through the public area (landside) roughly once every 10 minutes. The bus runs 24/7 and the journey takes approximately 3–5 minutes.

Due to the number of security checks before departure, we recommend arriving at the airport at least3 hours before your flight.

Which terminal?

The buildings are organised by airline.

• Terminal 1– handles only domestic flights operated by the following airlines: Akasa Air, Fly91, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Star Air
• Terminal 2– AirAsia, Air Arabia, Air France, Air India, Air India Express, Akasa Air (international flights only), Alliance Air, Batik Air, Bhutan Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air, IndiGo (international flights only), Japan Airlines, Jazeera Airways, KLM, Kuwait Airways, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air, Nepal Airlines, Oman Air, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Saudia, SalamAir, Singapore Airlines, SriLankan Airlines, Thai Airways, Virgin Atlantic

Before entering the terminal, you will go through document checks. Please have your flight ticket or boarding pass ready; you can simply show it on your mobile phone.

This document check is immediately followed by a security check of your luggage, and only then can you proceed to check in.

After check-in, you will go through the standard airport security screening.

Connecting flights

Bangalore Airport is a major hub, and connections between domestic and international flights are common here.

Domestic <-> Domestic

Transfer procedures vary depending on the type of transfer.

If you do not need to leave the terminal

Follow the ‘Domestic Transfer’ signs, which will take you from the baggage reclaim area to the right, through security and then directly to the departure gates.

You therefore do not leave the transit area.

• Average transfer time –15–25 minutes
• Baggage during a transfer –will be transferred automatically

In the event of a transfer between terminals

From the aircraft, head towards the exit. You will need to collect your luggage, go outside and take the free shuttle bus to the other terminal, where you will check in again.

• Average transfer time –50–80 minutes
• Luggage during a transfer –you must collect it and check it in again

International <-> International

The international terminal offers direct transit, so you do not need to leave the transit area.

Follow the ‘International Transfer’ signs, which will guide you to security and then straight to the departure gates. You do not need to go through immigration.

• Luggage during a transfer –will be transferred automatically

International <-> Domestic

When transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight, or vice versa, you must always leave the transit area, go out into the public area and check in again.

The distance between the terminals is no more than a 5-minute ride on the free shuttle bus. Some airlines also operate domestic flights from Terminal 2, so you do not need to move between terminals (for example, Air India).

When transferring from an international to a domestic flight, you must always collect your luggage and check it in again.

When transferring in the opposite direction, from a domestic to an international flight, your luggage may be transferred automatically. However, you should always check this when checking in at your departure point.

Overnight stay in the terminal – opening hours

The airport remains open 24/7. However, you will only be allowed into the terminal upon presentation of a flight ticket or boarding pass, and staff will often refuse entry to passengers whose flight is due to depart in more than 8 hours’ time.

From a practical point of view, you can stay at the airport overnight, for example, during a long lay-over, but there are very few comfortable seats in the public area.

Furthermore, both terminals are very busy throughout the night.
