Getting from Arusha Airport

Transportation to Arusha Airport is provided only by taxis or transfers from travel agencies directly to the safari or Kilimanjaro.
There is no public transport in the form of minibuses to Arusha Airport.
Transfer to safari
If you have bought a safari trip from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam, in most cases you will land at Arusha airport.
You will be met outside the terminal by representatives of your tour operator who will guide you to the jeeps. These will then take you directly to the safari.

The car park is right outside the arrivals hall.
Taxi
There are always plenty of regular taxis outside the terminal. There are always taxi drivers at the exit (the official ones wear dark green t-shirts).
There are no taxi meters in Arusha, but the prices from the airport are fixed and you will almost certainly not be able to negotiate a lower price with the official taxi drivers.
Taxis can only be paid for in cash, in US dollars or Tanzanian shillings.
The price is flat anywhere in downtown Arusha:
- 20 usd / 50 000 tzs
- Tip - stay at the modern, quality Sanna Boutique Hotel **** right in the centre
Bolt / Uber
The mobile apps Bolt and Uber offer significantly lower prices and work well in Arusha.
The Bolt app is generally cheaper.
The checkpoint is in front of the departure hall, about 100 metres to the left of the arrivals terminal. The price usually does not include the parking fee of 2 000 tzs, which you must pay to the taxi driver in cash.
The normal price at Bolt to Arusha city centre is 14 000 tzs for a regular car, or 10 000 tzs for a tuk tuk (bajaj).
Tuk tuk (bajaj)
Outside the departure terminal, you will occasionally see tuk tuk, which in Tanzania is called "bajaj". You can already haggle with tuk tuks and if you are really adept at haggling, you may be able to push the price down to around 20 000 tzs.
But you'll pay considerably less through the Bolt or Uber apps.
Rent a car
There are no car rental companies located directly at the airport, however, international car rental companies such as AutoUnion and Europcar operate in Arusha.
These car rental companies do not have direct branches in Tanzania, but have contracted local rental companies to provide you with a car.
Always specify your arrival time when booking, as a car rental company will be waiting at the airport to provide you with a car.
Due to weak competition, prices are relatively high and a week's rental of a small car in high season works out at around 250 eur.
Public transport
Buses did not give or any other form of public transport to Arusha Airport.
