SATA Air Acores baggage
When travelling with SATA Air Acores, you are always entitled to free checked-in and hand luggage on inter-island flights within the Azores.
Outside the Azores, the number of free bags depends on the chosen fare.
Hand luggage
Cabin baggage is always included in the price of all fares on all flights in a quantity of 2 pieces. The total weight should not exceed 8 kg.
The maximum dimensions of hand luggage allowed on SATA are as follows:
- 55x40x20 cm
- 40x30x15 cm
Due to the limited space on the relatively small aircraft operated by SATA Air Acores, it is important to strictly adhere to the baggage dimensions and if you exceed them, check your bag free of charge.
Hard cases that exceed the dimensions by even a few centimetres simply do not fit in the cabin.
Checked baggage
Checked baggage is always included in the ticket price for inter-island flights within the Azores. On all flights, the same rule applies that baggage must not weigh more than 23 kg.
On flights from the Azores to Madeira and the Canary Islands, checked baggage is not included on the cheapest 'Simple' fare. The best price for checked baggage is on the more expensive "Basic" fare.

Luggage for children and strollers
SATA Air Acores carries strollers for small children free of charge. You can check in a folding stroller, infant car seat or travel cot for free.

Hello, you will fly to Canada with Azores Airlines, which has a larger carry-on baggage allowance than the regional SATA Air Acores subsidiary (which only flies short flights between the Azores islands).
