No one should travel with ryanair, it's a disgrace, they have no consideration for passengers and the rules they impose are absurd. Look, they won't let you board because you don't have a physical identity card, but having it on the gov.pt application, which is approved by the European Union, is a disgrace.
There is no pan-European digital ID yet, maybe by the end of next year. Ryanair's website says nothing about accepting a national digital ID. You didn't take a physical ID, you punished yourself. 😉

I hereby submit my complaint regarding the flight [flight number] on [date], from [airport] to [airport].
I was prevented from boarding by your check-in staff/boarding gate on the grounds that I did not have my ID card in physical format. However, I presented my identification through the official id.gov.pt application, which legally and validly replaces the physical document, as recognised by the Portuguese State and accepted as a means of authentication and proof of identity in national territory and within the European Union.
Refusal to accept this digital document has resulted in the loss of my flight, causing me significant damage, including [additional costs, missed appointments, etc.].
Only a moron can travel with a cell phone as an ID. Thank God and Ryanair for saving you money.
I agree, a lot of people think that the e document is valid everywhere. So far only government organizations are required to accept it. So even if you stay in a private hotel that doesn't have an ID reader, they can refuse you.
Pedro Andre is clearly not smart enough to travel independently. 1. not finding out where a digital ID card is or isn't valid and 2. complaining to a travel website instead of the airline, I guess that requires a guardian...

What travel documents are valid and can be used for travel on Ryanair flights?
When travelling with Ryanair, we accept 2 forms of ID:
- A valid passport or
- A valid National Identity Card
We do not accept a driver's license or birth certificate for travel to any location. It is each passenger's responsibility to carry Photo ID which meets our requirements and the requirements of the relevant Immigration Authority.
