Aer Lingus baggage
Aer Lingus' baggage allowances and carriage rules are a bit complicated and complex, with several exceptions.
In principle, you are always entitled to carry at least two hand luggage items. We've summarised the carriage rules below so you always know what baggage is included in your ticket price.
Hand luggage
Each passenger can take 2 pieces of hand luggage with them on their journey. However, please note that you cannot always take your hand luggage on board with you, but instead check it in free of charge.
The dimensions of the luggage and the weight limit are clearly shown in the table below. But please read the explanation below.
On all flights, you can take a small personal item 33 x 25 x 20 cm without weight specification on board free of charge.
You can also travel free of charge with standard hand luggage, the dimensions of which vary:
- 55 x 40 x 24 cm up to 10kg.
- on European flights operated by Airbus, you must check this baggage free of charge at the under-floor counter
- on flights to America, you can take your baggage on board with you
- 48 x 33 x 20 cm up to 7kg
- applies to regional flights operated by ATR aircraft (flight numbers EI3000 - EI3999)
- you can take your luggage on board in addition to the small personal items mentioned above
You can bring a larger carry-on bag on board when travelling on a fare higher than the basic Saver fare or by paying the additional Carry-on bag and priority boarding service at 10 eur per flight.

Checked baggage
Checked baggage is included in the ticket price for all fares, except for the basic Saver fare, which does not include checked baggage. Other fares include 1 piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 23 kg.
For the Saver fare, baggage can be purchased at a cost of approx. 50 eur per flight. If you have a return ticket, you must purchase the luggage together for both the outbound and return journey.
Long-haul passengers in business class can carry a total of 3 pieces of luggage of 23 kg each.
