By air

In the western part of Honolulu, you’ll find the largest airport in Hawaii Honolulu HNL.

Hundreds of flights arrive here daily from the US mainland and neighbouring islands, along with dozens of connections from Asia and Australia. There are no direct flights from Europe, so you’ll always need to change planes in the US mainland or Canada.

When travelling to Hawaii, we recommend choosing a so-called open-jaw ticket, where you fly into Honolulu and depart from a different island on your return, or vice versa. This will save you one inter-island flight if you do not wish to stay solely on Oahu.

Flying between the islands

Hundreds of flights a day also depart from Honolulu Airport to all the other Hawaiian islands, with services currently operated by three airlines –Southwest Airlines,Hawaiian Airlines and Mokulele Airlines.

Onaverage, aone-wayflight to another island costs around45 usd to the main airports of Kahului, Kona or Lihue. Southwest Airlines almost always offers the best-value tickets.

Flights to smaller airports, served only by smaller airlines, cost around 160 usd one way.
