Seatguru.com is closing. What are the alternatives?

Anyone who has ever planned a long flight and wanted the best seat (and avoided a seat with no view and no knee room) knew SeatGuru well. But after almost 25 years, the end is coming - SeatGuru.com is finally going away.

The legendary seat map disappears from the internet

Founded in 2001, SeatGuru has grown into the world's largest database of airplane seat maps.

Clearly categorised by airline and aircraft type, the database has been regularly updated and has become an essential part of frequent travellers around the world.

In 2007, SeatGuru was acquired by Tripadvisor and the latest seat map update was released in 2020.

Since then, SeatGuru has been active but not updated.

At the end of October 2025, seatguru.com will finally come to an end.

  • Tip: If you're a frequent traveller, we recommend you bookmark our premium class reviews section - where we detail the seats on each airline.

Alternative seat maps - aeroLopa

Fortunately, it's not a sad story without a refund. For a few years now, aeroLopa.com has reigned supreme, mapping seats in a more modern and, more importantly, accurate way.

Although AeroLopa doesn't color-code seats as good or downright bad like SeatGuru did.

But unlike SeatGuru, it has the edge in several areas:

  • ✅ Shows the actual window positions
  • ✅ Adds accurate information about seat pitch, seat width and screen size
  • ✅ Updates maps much more frequently
  • ✅ Has a larger database of airlines and aircraft

Some airlines also have their own seat maps, but in general aeroLopa.com is much more accurate, especially for specific window positioning.

  • Tip. Check out our airline or airport guides too - they'll give you directions to the city centre, how to change planes or what size luggage is allowed.

Conclusion - SeatGuru is not to be missed

Although the end of the first website of its kind is a bit nostalgic, especially for us aviation enthusiasts, it won't be missed in reality.

There has been a better and much more frequently updated version of aerolopa.com for some time now.
