Transport from Tuzla Airport: My Tips

Tuzla

The journey to the centre of Tuzla takes about 20 minutes and can be made by taxi, airport shuttle bus or local bus from a nearby village.

City bus

From July 2026, bus route 34 operated by the city transport company GIPS will run directly to the terminal.

The route runs through the whole of Tuzla along the main road, past the historic centre and the main long-distance coach station, to Tuzla Istok station on the eastern outskirts of the city.

Where to stay in Tuzla?

Airport shuttle bus

Shuttle buses (minibuses/vans) run directly to the terminal, connecting the airport with Tuzla’s main bus station (approx. 2 km from the historic centre).

The fare is 10 bam and is payable in cash only to the driver. You can also pay in euros; in that case, the fare is 5 eur.

These shuttle vans usually run approximately 30–40 minutes after every scheduled arrival at the airport.

They depart from Tuzla bus station approximately 2.5 hours before each departure.

Taxi

The fare for a taxi from the airport to anywhere in the centre of Tuzla is a fixed rate of 30 BAM.

Any higher price means the taxi driver is trying to overcharge you. Payment is by cash only, and there are plenty of taxis both at the airport and throughout Tuzla.

Car hire

A good option if you want to explore the Bosnian countryside is to hire a car directly at the airport, where several major international car hire companies are based. Prices for a 4-day hire in Tuzla are around 50 eur.

Bus to Sarajevo

If you’re heading straight to Sarajevo, you’ll most likely use the Centrotrans bus service from the centre of Tuzla.

The service to Sarajevo runs roughly once an hour to an hour and a half; the journey takes over 3 hours and tickets cost around 32 bam, with return tickets costing around 55 bam.

You can check timetables and buy tickets on the company’s website: centrotrans.com
