The single security checkpoint on the right-hand side of the hall leads you into the single transit area.
Departure gates 1–9 handle flights to Schengen Area countries. This is followed by passport control and departure gates 10–17 for flights outside the Schengen Area.
Connecting flights
Tallinn is not a major transit airport; however, with the growing AirBaltic airline, you may occasionally have a connecting flight via Tallinn when travelling from Finland or Latvia.
The transfer is very well organised and you do not need to leave the transit area at all, even if you arrange the transfer yourself by purchasing two separate tickets (provided you are travelling with hand luggage only).
Schengen <-> Schengen
On flights between Schengen countries, there are no security or passport checks. You’ll disembark directly into the area with the connecting departure gates.
In this case, the actual transfer time is approximately 5–10 minutes.
Schengen -> Non-Schengen
When transferring from a Schengen to a non-Schengen flight, you only need to go through passport control. You will disembark into the Schengen departure gates area. Please proceed to passport control at gates 10 to 19.
The actual transfer time is 10–15 minutes.
Non-Schengen → Schengen or Non-Schengen
If you are arriving from a country outside the Schengen Area and are transferring to any other flight, you must go through passport control and exit to the public area.
You will then go through security screening to reach the departure gates area.
The actual transfer time is 25–35 minutes.
