Internet and Wi-Fi

Unlimited free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport. Connect to the “VINCI Airports” network.

If you’re using an EU SIM card, you’ll be charged the same rates for calls and data in Portugal as in your home country.

Otherwise, you can quickly and easily get a data e-SIM atairalo.com.

Shops and supermarkets

There are no supermarkets or grocery shops at the airport.

Other shops specialise in selling duty-free goods, local souvenirs or clothing, particularly beyond the security checkpoint. Prices are, however, very high (roughly double those in ordinary shops outside the airport).

In the public area, there is a Vodafone mobile phone kiosk, a luggage shop, a newsagent’s selling newspapers, postcards and travel essentials, and a souvenir shop.

Dining options

The restaurants here take the form of small snack bars and cafés. There is one snack bar in the public area and two beyond the security checkpoint.

The first bistro opens at 5.00 am, and the last cafés in the transit area close at 10.00 pm.

Luggage storage

The luggage storage facility at Ponta Delgada Airport is currently not in operation.

ATMs and currency exchange bureaux

The Unicambio currency exchange in the public area offers extremely unfavourable exchange rates, as does the Euronet cash machine by the baggage reclaim carousels.

In the arrivals hall, you can withdraw euros at a favourable rate from the Santander bank ATM.

Post Office

You’ll find a branch of the Portuguese Post Office in the arrivals hall. It’s open on weekdays from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

Outside opening hours, you can use the post office machine to buy at least a stamp and send home a postcard, for example.
