Getting from Lamezia Terme Airport
The airport is connected to the nearest train station by public bus, but regional bus services also run to other destinations. The most desirable option in Calabria is car hire.

Car rental
Calabria's photogenic coastline and hilly hinterland beckon road-trips by car to reach all the beaches and mountains in comfort.
Weekly rental prices start at 300 eur in high season, while off-season prices are available at 180 eur. Many local and multinational rental companies operate at the airport.
Bus to the station and on to Lamezia Terme
Bus line 90 "Navetta Aeroporto" runs every 30 minutes from 5:45 to 23:15 to the nearby Lamezia Terme Centrale station . A detailed timetable can be found on the website lameziamultiservizi.it (search only as "Navetta Aeroporto").
The journey takes just 5 minutes. The ticket costs 1,80 eur bought at the newsagent (Tabacchi) inside the terminal, or 3 eur bought from the driver. The ticket is valid for 90 minutes and is also transferable to other city lines in Lamezia.
Tickets can also be purchased on the myCicero mobile app (available on Google Play / App Store).
For information and current ticket prices, visit the official website of the carrier: lameziamultiservizi.it.
- Tip for a well-reviewed hotel near the station - Hotel Sogni D'Oro Airport ***
From the train station to the centre of Lamezia Terme you have to take other lines - 4 or 5. For both, a ticket for 1,80 eur is valid for 90 minutes (you can change between buses).
Although the last connection of line 90 from the airport to the train station doesn't leave until 23:15, the last bus from the station to the centre of Lamezia Terme leaves around 22:20. After this time, you can only take a taxi to the centre.
By train from Lamezia Terme Centrale
From the station 2.5 km away, which is served by the aforementioned Navetta Aeroporto line, you can take the train practically all over Italy.
You can buy tickets directly from/to the airport on trenitalia.com or from the on-site ticket machines, which also include a ride on the public transport bus line 90 from the station to the terminal.
However, the last trains usually run at around 21:00.
Taxi / Uber
Especially in the early morning and evening hours, taxis remain the only choice for public transport.
There are always plenty of official taxis waiting outside the terminal, but the prices are very high and you will pay around 30 eur to get to the centre of Lamezia Terme.
However, the Uber mobile app also works here and offers prices to Lamezia Terme between 17 eur and 22 eur according to current demand.
Buses to Catanzaro
There are several bus services to Catanzaro and its beach area, Catanzaro Lido, directly from the airport terminal, on average 1-2 times per hour. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Tickets cost around 5 eur.
The following carriers operate on the route to Catanzaro:
Buses to Reggio Calabria / Villa San Giovanni
In the very south of Italy, direct buses run 3-4 times a day from Lirosi Autoservizi to the towns where the ferries to Sicily depart. The journey takes around 2 hours and costs 9 eur.
Buses to Cosenza
One of Calabria's largest inland cities can be reached directly without changing buses 5-6 times a day from the Ferrovia della Calabria terminal. The journey takes about 80 minutes and costs around 7 eur.

Cauko, I have exactly the same problem as norbic.. arrival 21:20 and I'm trying to find a way to get to the city other than by taxi.. anyway, is there a taxi app or any verified taxis? I read that from the airport it usually costs 30€ which comes over the line.
It's so sleepy here that the public transport runs until 23:15...?
I'm sure. This applies to line 90 from the airport to Centrale station, which is definitely not centrally located. It is only crossed by lines 4 and 5, the former running last at 22:22 and the latter at 19:20. I don't count Shuttle 91 to the industrial area.
Then there's the summer line 10.
As for apps, Uber works there.
By the way, the last train to the city centre leaves at 20:45, on weekends at 20:36.
I'll put it here for those who can't click on the link to the timetables:
Wizzair flight scheduled to arrive at 21:20 , in the summer schedule 21:00 (it may land a little earlier with luck and in the worst case with a nice delay)
Departure of bus 90 from the airport: 21:15 , 21:45 , 22:15 , 22:45 , 23:15
Arrival of bus 90 at Centrale station: 21:20 , 21:50 , 22:20 , 22:50, 23:20
Departure of bus 4 from the station to the city: 22:22
No need to be more semi-popular, I hope...
Since it's Italy, I wouldn't rely on exact departures according to the timetable (actually, not even inaccurate ones). I also have no idea if the last four will wait for the 90 in case of delays.
If you don't want to pay €1.8 for a five-minute ride to the station or back, you can take a shorter or longer walk. Shorter via the roundabout (not tried) https://mapy.com/s/pezazadoza - about half an hour. Longer one an hour https://mapy.com/s/kucedatucu. On the map it looks like you could walk past the petrol station, but you couldn't - the gates are closed at either end.
The shorter route has the disadvantage of less safety in the dark, the longer one has the advantage of watching the planes along the way.
Hi, is there any possibility to get to the city by arriving from Bratislava at 21:20 besides taxi? According to Trenitalia the last train at 20:45 :(
Public transport, perhaps.
Lucia, Norbic, have you figured out how to get from the airport to downtown LT please? Thank you
Is it a problem to read the timetables of the 3 listed bus lines or use Google Maps? Alternatively, install the Uber app and try to enter your route...
