Transportation from Ioannina Airport

Konitsa Bridge

The terminal is located on the main road heading north towards the Albanian border. In addition to taxis, it is also served by public transport buses.

Bus

The bus stop is located on the main road to the right of the junction with traffic lights about 150 metres from the terminal.

The direction to the centre of Ioannina is on the left when looking from the terminal.

There are no timetables at the bus stop, but all buses of the line head to the central bus stop ΣΤΑΘΜΑΡΧΕΙΟ in the middle of the city (location of the bus stop for departure to the airport from the centre on google.com/maps).

Ticket for 1,50 eur can only be bought from the driver in cash.

Timetables and official information, including links to Google maps that know the times of buses in Ioannina, can be found on the website: astiko-ioannina.gr/en.

The only bus line that runs through the airport is the number 2 bus, which is usually only marked with the name of the final stop "ΕΛΕΟΥΣΑ" when coming from the centre. Buses run at intervals of 20-40 minutes on weekdays, and once an hour on weekends.

  • Travel time to the centre: 12-15 minutes
  • First bus from the centre: 5:55 (6:00 on weekends)
  • Last bus from the airport: about 23:00 (on weekends 22:10)

Taxi

You will find a taxi stand at the arrivals hall. There will always be several taxis waiting at each scheduled arrival.

The price to Ioannina city centre is around the meter 12 eur and can only be paid in cash.

Car rental

Several large international car rental companies have a counter in the arrivals hall. A car is practically the only relevant means of transport for exploring the Greek countryside.
