Trolleybus and buses

The airport express line A1E stops directly in front of the terminal.

  • Bus A1E - goes along the main street to the centre to Mihai Viteazul Square. The bus does not stop at all stops along the way.
    • Frequency - 30 to 60 minutes
    • Travel time - 25 minutes
    • Last bus from the airport: 23:00
    • First bus to the airport: 4:00
    • Timetable: ctpcj.ro/linia-A1E

Tickets for the A1E line can only be purchased inside the bus for 6 ron / 1 way. Tickets bought in newsagents or vending machines are not valid on the A1E line.

The stop for other city lines is approximately 120 metres to the right of the terminal on the main road. The centre is on the right from the airport.

  • Trolleybus 5 - goes to the centre to the Vicotria stop, where it turns right and goes through the historic centre to the main train station
    • Frequency - 13 minutes (20 minutes on weekends and evenings)
    • Journey time - 35 minutes
    • Last bus from the airport: 22:50 (weekdays), 22:17 (weekends)
    • First bus to airport: 4:52 (weekdays), 5:15 (Saturday), 5:35 (Sunday)

    • Last bus from the airport: 21:49
    • First bus to the airport: 4:40
    • Timetable: ctpcj.ro/linia-8
  • Night bus 5N - goes to the centre and to the railway station
    • Special fares apply - 5 ron / 1 ride
    • Frequency - 30 minutes
    • Journey time - 30 minutes
    • Operating hours - 22:50 to 0:50 in both directions only
    • Timetable: ctpcj.ro/line-5n

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket machine at the bus stop, where you can pay with card and cash, or via the 24 Pay mobile app. Payment via SMS is also available.

Only a 2-ride ticket is available for 6 ron. One trip is therefore based on 3 ron. The paper ticket works by marking one side of the ticket in the validator inside the trolleybus, bus or tram for the first trip and the other side for the second trip.

If you buy via the 24 Pay mobile app, you can buy a single ticket for 3 ron, a day ticket for 20 ron or a 72-hour ticket for 33 ron (not valid on the A1E express line).

Detailed information can be found on the website: ctpcj.ro.

The M41, M42, M43 and M44 suburban buses also pass through the station, which do not go to the centre but terminate in the eastern part of Cluj at the Arte Plastice stop, and some of them run in the direction of the airport after 11pm.

Tip for a hotel near the bus stop

Book your accommodation without the hassle of searching and stay right by the bus or trolleybus stops.

Taxi

There are always plenty of taxis waiting outside the terminal. Always insist on driving with a meter or use the often cheaper mobile apps Bolt or Uber, which work great in Cluj.

The cheapest of these options is usually the Bolt app, which will get you to the centre for around 31 ron.

Regular taxis run at prices around 40 ron.

Rent a car

There are several car rental branches right in the terminal. For example, there are Thrifty, Hertz, Alamo, Autounion and the local Klass Wagen.

Weekly rental rates start at 35 eur.
