Transfer at Campinas Airport

Sao Paulo

The very clear and modern complex has only 1 terminal, which is internally divided into international and domestic sections.

Viracopos Airport is medium sized and it takes about 10 minutes to walk from the entrance to the furthest departure gate.

Security checks tend to be quick and queues are usually 10 minutes at most.

Transfer between flights

Campinas Viracopos Airport is not a major transfer hub, mainly due to the limited number of international flights.

However, it does have direct transit options.

International <-> International

Transferring between two international flights is very rare, but quick and straightforward.

There is no immigration check, but you will go through a security check designed exclusively for transfer passengers.

  • Average transfer time - 15-25 minutes
  • Baggage on transfer - will be transferred automatically

International -> Domestic

Upon exiting the aircraft, you will need to walk towards the gate and immigration control. After that you will collect your luggage and according to the signs you will walk about 3 minutes to the domestic section of the terminal where you will check in and go through security.

You can also use the free shuttle bus, but walking is faster.

  • Average transfer time - 40-60 minutes
  • Baggage on transfer - you must collect and re-check in

Domestic -> International

After getting off the plane, you stay in the transit area and walk through the corridor to the security and passport control area set aside specifically for transfer passengers.

Long queues do not form here.

  • Average transfer time - 20-35 minutes
  • Baggage on transfer - will be transferred automatically

Domestic <-> Domestic

Upon exiting the aircraft, you will find yourself directly in the departure gate area.

There is no security check.

  • Average transfer time - 5-10 minutes
  • Baggage on transfer - will be transferred automatically

Overnight in the terminal - opening hours

The public and transit areas of the terminal are open 24/7.

However, there are minimal seats in the public area and due to the all-night traffic, the airport is busy all night long.

Hotels near the airport

For early morning departures, we recommend staying overnight in a hotel near the airport due to the long distance from the centre of Sao Paulo.

Directly opposite the terminal you can stay in a cheap and well rated hotel Aero Sleep Campinas ***.
