Getting from Almaty Airport

Almaty

Public transport does not go directly to the terminal, but bus stops are only on the main road about 400 metres from the airport hall.

Most passengers choose to use taxis or cars to get to the centre via the Yandex mobile app.

Taxi / Yandex

The official airport taxi service is operated by Blue Sky Taxi, which has a fixed price from the airport to anywhere in Almaty 9 000 kzt.

You can catch any taxi on your way from the city centre to the airport, but overcharging to tourists is the order of the day in Almaty and it is not uncommon for a taxi driver to charge you more than 25 000 kzt.

To get to the city centre, we recommend downloading the Yandex Go mobile app (available via Google Play / App Store), which is similar to the Uber, Grab or Bolt apps that don't operate here.

The price is calculated according to current demand and is usually between 5 000 kzt and 7 500 kzt.

Public transport - buses

At the "Ogarev" bus stop about 400 meters from the terminal (see location on the map) you can get buses number 79 and 92 from the centre. To view the current online bus location and route map, visit 2gis.kz/almaty.

This mode of transport is quite reliable. Although there is no exact timetable, the intervals are roughly 6-20 minutes. From the city centre, due to frequent traffic jams, you should expect at least 60-75 minutes of driving time, and in the evening it can be half as long.

Generally, the daily service runs from about 5:30 to 23:30.

At night between 23:00 and 6:00 use line 3.

Fares can only be paid for with a pre-purchased Onay card, which can be bought from the cash-only machine at the airport exit. The machine works by selling you the card itself for 800 tenge after you insert the notes and loading the rest of the value onto the card. You will then use this amount to pay for individual tickets.

The card costs 800 kzt and individual fares 120 kzt. More information on the Onay.kz website (in Russian or Kazakh only).
