When travelling with TAP Air Portugal, you are entitled to a minimum of 2 pieces of hand luggage free of charge.
Hand luggage
The price of the tickets always includes the free carriage of two pieces of hand luggage per passenger. Luggage must be of the following dimensions:
- 55 x 40 x 20 cm up to 8 kg
- 40 x 30 x 15 cm up to 2 kg
You are entitled to this baggage allowance even if you purchase the cheapest Discount fare.

Business class passengers travelling to or from North America have the same carry-on baggage allowance. Business class passengers on flights to Europe or to Africa or South America can carry 2 larger carry-on bags and 1 small carry-on bag of the previous size.
If you bring more than one bag into the cabin, you will incur a boarding fee of 70 eur.
Checked baggage
Checked baggage is included in the Basic fare and above. If you are purchasing tickets directly on flytap.com, baggage and fare options will be displayed during the ticket selection process.

Luggage can also be purchased later for Discount and Basic fares. However, you will be charged approximately 30 eur for a single trip within Europe and up to 100 eur for an intercontinental flight.
The baggage allowance is worthwhile if you are travelling in a group of more than one person and 1 piece of baggage is sufficient for the journey. If each passenger needs luggage, it is better to buy a fare that includes the required number of checked bags.
Luggage for children and prams
TAP Air Portugal carries strollers for small children free of charge. You can check in a folding stroller, car seat or travel cot for free.
If you are flying on a Basic fare and above, you can check in an extra 1 bag up to 10 kg with children under 2 years old. Children aged 2 and over are entitled to baggage allowance as an adult on the selected fare.
