You can activate your ticket at any time within 11 months of purchase, so you can do so during the summer holidays if you like.

A 15 per cent discount applies to all types of passes, which you can compare on thetrainline.com. Personally, I found these offers most appealing:

• 1 month – 348 eur adults / 261 eur young people under 27
• 2 consecutive months – 413 eur adults / 310 eur young people
• 3 consecutive months – 478 eur adults / 358 eur young people

This offer is also great value for families with children, astwo free tickets for children under 11 can be issued with each adult ticket.

Where is the Interrail pass valid?

An Interrail ticket is valid for unlimited travel by train in all countries outside your home country (i.e. the Czech Republic), from which you may only take one journey to and one journey from abroad.

Interrail is valid inall EU countries plus the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Montenegro, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia andSerbia.

You can travel on all state-run rail operators as well as many private ones; you can even use ferries, for example between the UK and Ireland, Sweden and Finland, and other countries.

Travelling on high-speed and night trains

The ticket can be used on all services operated by participating carriers; however, for many trains – typically high-speed services or overnight sleeper trains – you will need to pay a supplement or make a reservation.
